How does your magazine fulfil the four needs of Blumler and Katz Uses and Gratifications Theory?

My audience will read POP magazine for information/surveillance to find out about boys, bands, fashion, what’s cool etc; they’ll read it as diversion to forget home or school life; they’ll read it because they’ll identify or possibly aspire to be like the people or lifestyles the magazine features; they’ll read it so they can build relationships and talk about it either face to face or across the social network the magazine encourages them to use. My audience will also look on 'POP magazines' Social Media profiles and the POP magazine website. I have  used colors and images stereo typically associated with young teenage girls to reflect their word so they will appreciate buying it, i used the colors 'Pink,Yellow and Blue'.

How did you attract the audience?

Another way of attracting my audience is the Pop magazine, Websites allow interactivity via a message board or other social network links – the psychology behind this is that interactivity gives people the idea that they have a close relationship with the magazine - or even a sense of ownership - so they will be more likely to continue buying it. Another way of attracting the audience was the very low price. The price is cheaper than other Pop magazines which means more people will purchase Pop Magazine as its sold for a cheaper price with similar content. My mode of address speaks to my audience in the kind of colloquial language I use but also in the features I have in the magazine. Pop magazine doesn't talk down to them; in the language I use and in the choice of stories and other features, I attempt to be like them so I can reach out to them so the audience will be more likely to feel included so they will buy the magazine. My age for my primary audience is 10-15, so to attract them I've followed conventions and included lifestyle features because they are used to attract girls who have less of an interest in music as opposed to boys and make-up and clothing. My audience is a mix of lower class and middle class, Middle class families will have more disposable income to purchase the magazine for their children, However, lower class families ill still be able to purchase this magazine as its cheap and children could save up their pocket money for it.I have based the stories on my audience research and that I have constantly asked for audience feedback during the magazine’s construction to ensure I would appeal to the target audience

What kind of media institute might distribute your media product and why? Podcast

What kind of media institute might distribute your media product and why? Podcast script.

My magazine will be distributed by Immediate, I decided this because they publish magazines similar to the magazine I have created.  Immediate publish Top of the pops magazine which is very similar my magazine. They are the same music genre and include the same type of content. The difference between my magazine and Top of the Pops is the price as POP magazine is sold for less. POP magazine could have a huge positive impact on Immediate as it is going to be very popular with young girls age 10-15.

How does your media product represent social group, youth subcultures, class and gender?

The two models used on my front cover are similar to the models used on most POP magazines. They are young and they look fun. I decided to use a male and female model to show a relationship between them, this will attract our target audience as young girls are interested in gossip and romance. Our target audience is mostly female so they will be drawn to this magazine as they aspire to be like the girl on the cover. However, as i used a female and a male model on the cover this might widen our target audience as males might be drawn in by the boy on the front cover. My models are both young so this represents youth and alternative youth, teenage girls/boys will look up to them. The fact that the models on the cover are in love is quite rare for a POP magazine so our target audience will be intrigued. I included a male model as well as a female as most front cover models on big POP magazines are usually women and couples aren't usually seen together on the front of POP magazines. I have represented teenage girls in a stereotypical fashion, using bright colors like pink and yellow and having features involving romance and make-up and the obsession to boys in a fairly stereotypical fashion to some extent. I have followed style models I've looked at and I reflect the fact that music magazines for girls even at a young age are also concerned with female lifestyle in a way that male-oriented music magazines aren’t. My magazine represents working class young people in a positive light at a time when their portrayal in the media is often negative and related to crime. Quite often, successful artists come from middle class backgrounds, so this is an inspiration for the working class audience. The theorist Gaye Tuchman (1978)  said women are ‘symbolically annihilated by the media through absence, condemnation or trivialization,’ but my magazine shows how successful they can be and I think I have created a life-enhancing assertion of female self-confidence? (Pete Fraser, 2005).
